Toxic Baby Foods List – PLUS How To Make Your Own!
Did you know that most store-bought baby food is toxic? This blog post introduces the toxic baby food problem, shares a few baby food brands to avoid and then we share our DIY baby food making process that makes having constant nutritious food for your baby a non-issue.
If you still watch mainstream news on television, then you might have caught that last story sharing how 95% of tested baby food contains harmful substances (like lead). Childhood exposure to lead has been found to lower IQ later in life. Many studies were taken during the U.S. leaded gas era.
Mainstream news of lead-contaminated baby food seems to surface every few years on major networks. This 2019 report on found toxins within baby food. This report exposed that around 20% to 30% of tested baby foods contained lead. This latest one has it at 95% of the baby foods tested.
Is there a reason why, as technology advances, and as knowledge increases, the world seems to be going backwards? They put it out there for us to learn about, so there is no excuse.
Heavy Metals In Popular Baby Foods
In 2019, this national investigation on 168 major food companies conducted by Healthy Babies Bright Futures (HBBF) found that almost all baby foods (95% ) were contaminated. 95% had lead, 73% had arsenic, 75% cadmium, and 32% were contaminated with mercury.
From HealthyBabyFood.org:
HBBF tested 288 foods – including popular baby foods like sweet potatoes, carrots, cereal, and bananas – and examined 7000+ additional food tests from other published studies. We found no evidence to suggest that homemade purees and family brands are generally safer, with lower metal levels, than store-bought baby food.
– Healthy Baby Foods
25% of Baby Food tested had all four of these heavy metals.
- Arsenic
- Lead
- Cadmium
- Mercury
The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has finalized only one toxic heavy metal standard in baby food, establishing an allowable inorganic arsenic level in infant rice cereal. Compared to the current FDA and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-established toxic heavy metal standards for bottled water, baby foods and their ingredients surpassed the levels by frightening margins. Baby foods and baby food ingredients contained up to: 91 times the arsenic level 69 times the cadmium level 177 times the lead level 5 times the mercury level.

How These Chemicals Damage
These are neurotoxins with the power to completely blunt your baby’s IQ and learning potential.
They permanently alter developing brains and will also affect a babies behavior.
- CNS, central nervous systems damage
- Permanent IQ loss and impaired cognitive development
- Reduced postnatal growth and delayed puberty
- Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (autism)
Where did these contaminations in baby food come from?
Pollution in the environment is a leading cause. Crops absorb metals from soil and water. So this is not just in baby food. These heavy metals are in all of our foods. Because of this, they find their way into packaged baby foods too.
Children are more susceptible to damaging effects.
The Tainted Baby Food Problem Is Getting Worse, Not Better.
These issues persist. And we keep buying these baby food products. This issue isn’t new, but it seems we’re stopping it from becoming old news too. Things in the baby food space are getting worse. Since 2017, baby food contamination has increased.
Here’s Dr. Ken Barry on the Subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy Report:
More Studies On Lead And Children’s IQ As Adults
Here is a meta analysis from PubMed that shares data on how low-level lead exposure affects children’s IQ.
A highly significant association was found between lead exposure and children’s IQ
Another related study is in this article on Science Daily. It shares results from a Duke University study that says lead exposure during childhood is not only linked to lower IQ, but also to “lower status jobs as adults.”
In the Duke study, they monitored over 500 children who were raised with lead exposure before unleaded gasoline was produced.
Their exposure to the powerful neurotoxin may have led to a loss of intelligence and occupational standing by the time they reached age 38.
This study took kids from New Zealand around 1972 during the leaded gas days. They found that for each 5 microgram increase of lead in their blood, a person lost around 1.5 IQ points.
This recent news of lead and arsenic in baby food begs more questions than just, “How do we start making our own baby food?” It makes you wonder why.
7 Baby Food Brands To Avoid
This toxic baby food list is taken from the 2021 Baby Food Staff Report:

- Beech-Nut Nutrition Company (Beech-Nut)
- Hain Celestial Group, Inc. (Hain) – “Earth’s Best Organic”
- Gerber
- Campbell Soup Company (Campbell) – “Plum Organics”
- Walmart Inc. (Walmart) – their private brand, “Parent’s Choice”
- Sprout Foods, Inc. (Sprout Organic Foods)

Could this toxic baby food be another prong of some mind-muzzling agenda?
Have billionaire philanthropists successfully coordinated their decades long efforts to destroy our minds through distorted educational curriculums and news media (Reece Committee via Dodd Report)? From Common Core to fluoride in our water to GMO soy infant formulas and products, this unfortunate list continues.
Along with lowered attention spans, which is evident by popularity in platforms such as TikTok, we now have proof that our IQs are lowering too. And not only that, our lifespans for the first time are predicted to be shorter than our parents’.
This multi-pronged attack on our mind, body and soul includes whatever it is they’re constantly spraying on us from above, which we breathe and eat daily regardless of how hard we try to keep our gardens untainted. It includes the heavy metals in “trusted” baby foods too. From the latest findings and side effects from the you-know-what, to calcified pineal glands, to newborns born with a lowered IQ from maternal fluoride during pregnancy, we have a lot to deal with when bringing a new life into this world!
You can be oblivious to it and pretend nothing is wrong. Or you can be honest with yourself and those you care for, and just do your best, informing yourself of the issues along the way. This is the better way. If everyone learned about these issues, a solution would come about naturally and effectively. And sooner than later. But, most don’t want to know. We become less useful in and to the world when we get information from MSM.
The Only Way To Avoid Toxic Baby Food On Shelves
Childhood exposure to lead has been found to lead to a lower IQ later on in life. It’s been found in baby food products far too often. All moms and dads out there, current and future, should stop buying commercial baby foods. Even the “organic” brands. We should all start making our own baby food.
