Store-bought baby food has proven to be toxic and a problem that’s not going away. This post goes over the toxic baby food issue, baby food brands to avoid, then a simple DIY baby food making process anyone can do.
Recently news came out that 95% of tested baby food contains harmful substances like lead. Childhood exposure to lead has already been found to lead to a lower IQ later on in life with studies taken during the leaded gas era.
Similar news of lead contaminated baby food did come out a few years ago, but it is happening again. The study from a few years ago showed around 20% to 30% of tested baby foods containing lead. Now it’s 95%.
Maybe there’s a reason why as technology advances, and knowledge increases, the population seems to be going backwards in intellect (myself included). Outside of uncovered and proven philanthropist meetings which coordinated decades long efforts of dumbing us down through our educational curriculums (Reece Committee – check the Dodd Report), continuing on today with common core and more, could this toxic baby food be another prong in their mind-muzzling agenda?
Along with attention spans lowering which is evident by popularity in platforms such as TikTok, we now have proof that IQs are lowering too.
This multi-pronged attack on our body and minds includes whatever it is they’re constantly spraying above, lead and fluoride in our water, and heavy metals in our trusted baby foods. The results range from the less talked about calcified pineal glands to lowered IQ newborns from use of maternal fluoride during pregnancy.
Toxic Baby Food: The Study
We now know that baby food with lead lowers your IQ years later as an adult.
Here is the study that says that 95% of the baby food products you feed your infant, are toxic. The article has links to the full PDF report and executive summary in English as well as the summary in Spanish.
Out 168 major food companies, 95% were contaminated. All baby foods basically.
95% had lead, 73% had arsenic, 75% cadmium, and 32% were contaminated with mercury. 25% of the baby foods tested had all four of these horrible heavy metals.
The Chemicals Found
- Arsenic
- Lead
- Cadmium
- Mercury
All these neurotoxins were found. These have the power to completely blunt your baby’s IQ and learning progress. They permenently alter developing brains and affect babies’ behavior too.
This is what the study says
It says that they come from pollution in the environment, and from crops absorbing the metals from soil and water. It says it’s not just happening to babies. That these heavy metals are in all of our food. Because of this, they find their way into packaged baby foods too.
Children are so susceptible to the negative health effects from these, but the worst part is, the issue persists, and we keep buying these products. This was likely an issue long before 2017’s study and it has only gotten worse as recent findings show us.
Since 2017, the baby food contamination has increased. You’d think baby food is one of the highest quality types of packaged foods, but saying “high quality” and “packaged” is an oxymoron.
Here’s Dr. Ken Barry on the Subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy Report:
If you weren’t’ already convinced to make your own baby food, then now you should be. Toxic baby food products are not going away anytime soon.
More Studies On Lead And Children’s IQ as Adults
Here is a meta analysis from PubMed that shares data on how low-level lead exposure affects children’s IQ.
In it, they state,
A highly significant association was found between lead exposure and children’s IQ
Another related study is in this article on Science Daily. It shares results from a Duke University study that says lead exposure during childhood is not only linked to lower IQ, but also to “lower status jobs as adults.”
In the Duke study, they monitored over 500 children who were raised with lead exposure before unleaded gasoline was produced..
Their exposure to the powerful neurotoxin may have led to a loss of intelligence and occupational standing by the time they reached age 38.
This study took kids from New Zealand around 1972 during the leaded gas days. They found that for each 5 microgram increase of lead in their blood, a person lost around 1.5 IQ points.
This recent news of lead and arsenic in baby food begs more questions that just how do we start making our own baby food. It makes you wonder why. It’s enough that it was a problem once. But again?
Baby Food Brands To Avoid
Taken from the oversight.house.gov 2021 Baby Food Staff Report:
- Nurture, Inc. (Nurture): “Happy Family Organics” & “HappyBABY”
- Beech-Nut Nutrition Company (Beech-Nut)
- Hain Celestial Group, Inc. (Hain) – “Earth’s Best Organic”
- Gerber
- Campbell Soup Company (Campbell) – “Plum Organics”
- Walmart Inc. (Walmart) – their private brand, “Parent’s Choice”
- Sprout Foods, Inc. (Sprout Organic Foods)
The most toxic of all the baby food products were rice-based snacks, juices and sweet potatoes.
To avoid toxic heavy metal residue contaminating your baby’s food, first step is to avoid these. Second is to source your own ingredients and start making your own baby food with a baby food maker.

How to make healthy baby food in 6 steps
- Get a baby food maker
- Attain some organic chicken or white fish with bone and make a broth
- Once it cools, freeze them in little containers with lids
- Attain some organic vegetables (farmer’s market if not your own)
- Chop vegetables and put a block of frozen bone broth in the baby food maker
- Let cool and then feed your baby some healthy homemade baby food.
The fact that you can extend the use of 1 batch of bone broths makes this diy baby food process very doable and easy. With frozen bone broth, each morning you can put a cube in the baby food maker along with the vegetables. It becomes easier than going to the store or even ordering the toxin-laden stuff online.
In summary
Childhood exposure to lead has been found to lead to a lower IQ later on in life. It’s been found recently in baby food products time and time again. Current and future parents to infants need to stop buying commercial baby foods, even if they’re the “organic” brands, and start making our own baby food.
